Chicken VindalooBecause three out of four consumers in the United States eat spicy foods at least once a week, successful companies will explore new international origins and spicy flavors. The internationally inspired products will offer bold flavors, diversity, ease of adaptation and comfort.

From Hispanic origins, the most well-known chiles are peri peri, green chile, jalapeño, chiplote, cayenne, habanero, paprika, ají amarillo y ancho. Of Asian origin, the spicy sauces sriracha and gochujang and Sichuan pepper are used to flavor protein and vegetable starters. From the Middle East, a strong tendency is to use Harissa paste. From India and Pakistan, Kashmiri masala pasta and Jalfrezi curry are very popular.
